Install Spoor on the server and on every player’s client, with the same version on both. Singleplayer needs only your own copy. There is no Fabric version.

Curios (optional)

With Curios installed, the Tracker Goggles can go in a Curios head slot, and they show on your head there. Without Curios they go in the normal helmet slot, which works on its own.

  • Supported: Curios 9.5.1 or newer for Minecraft 1.21.1 (the 9.x line).
  • Curios is not bundled with Spoor. Install it separately if you want it.
  • Spoor adds the goggles to the Curios head slot tag and gives every player one head slot.
  • Wearing the goggles in the head slot alongside an iron helmet was checked in game. Dragging them into the slot by hand on the Curios screen has not been tested separately.

Naturalist (optional)

Animals from Naturalist, such as the deer, boar and bear, get fitting track shapes. Spoor recognises them by name, so it needs no Naturalist code and includes none of its code or art. Unknown additions use a safe fallback shape. They still follow the normal surface and movement rules.

What has been checked:

  • With Naturalist 2.0.5, deer, boar and bear left trails across dirt, stone and water in a live test, and the deer trail was read through the goggles.
  • Adult foot sizes were checked against Naturalist’s published 1.21.1 models, for example 3×4 deer hooves, 5×6 bear paws and 10×12 elephant pads, in model pixels.
  • Other Naturalist species and their custom baby models have not been checked live. Babies use the normal baby scaling.

Other modded creatures

Creatures from other mods leave prints with a conservative fallback shape: a paw or a boot. Spoor does not discover every installed mod’s models automatically.

A server can give any modded creature proper feet with a datapack, or stop it leaving tracks. See Datapack profiles.

Shaders and rendering

  • Fabulous graphics passed a native check.
  • Iris 1.8.12 with Sodium 0.6.13 and Complementary Reimagined r5.9.3 passed with shaders active.
  • Other shader packs have not been checked.
